RENOVATIONS & EXTENSIONS
This is my specialty and constitute about 90% of my work. With 34 years of experience as a builder, I have a deep understanding of older NZ construction methods. I know how to seamlessly integrate modern systems into existing structures, ensuring structural integrity and cost-efficiency.

I enjoy working closely with builders to determine the most efficient ways to marry the new to the old with quality the main consideration while factoring in cost as best we can. Finding solutions for my clients is one of the most satisfying aspects of design.

NEW HOMES
Unlike mass-produced franchise builds, my designs focus on character and quality. I specialize in lifestyle blocks and private subdivisions, where we have the freedom to prioritize your unique ideas over profit-driven developer covenants.

SPECIALIST & RELOCATABLE UNITS (Granny Flats and Tiny Homes)
Small builds often carry hidden infrastructure and service costs. A building consent provides protection and covers the risk in addition to inspecting all the work to ensure standards are met.

Under certain conditions, regulations changes now allow “Granny Flats” and second dwellings under 70sqm to be built without building and planning consent.

The regulations are not as straightforward as they seemed at first. Care must be taken over matters such as effect on adjoining properties, connection to council infrastructure and insurance.

Of particular concern is the matter of accountability. Owners will now be responsible for all contractors and associated trades workmanship and materials, compliance with the building, and planning regulations, development contribution levies and ownership legalities.

RURAL/FARM BUILDINGS
If your farm building requires a consent, I provide the necessary site plans for drainage and setbacks, working alongside engineers to keep design costs and construction risks low.

Modern kitset farm buildings are efficient and cost-effective. They come fully designed and engineered with pre-cut componentry ready to assemble.

LIGHT COMMERCIAL
I specialise in "change of use" renovations, I ensure your building meets all NZ standards for fire safety, ventilation, accessibility, and hygiene. Much of this work is specialised and requires coordination and good communication between all parties.
